After the ceremony, we headed over to the reception. It was a small room, and they hadn’t anticipated wheelchair users, so they had to scramble to re-organize the tables so we could get in. But we made it work just fine!
My mom was chilly, so she put on a multicolored vest that my dad had recently gotten her. She was so happy to be surrounded by friends and family! We had about 15 people there, so it was a nice intimate reception.
We had lasagna and sandwiches and salad for the reception, and the food was enjoyed by all. Felix was a very good boy, and Brad got some good shots of him both under the table, and on my lap once I was done eating.
We made toasts and shared stories, and it was a really fun, intimate gathering.
Then it came time to cut the cake. My parents had not thought about cutting the cake, so we had some trouble explaining to them how to cut the cake together. Then we promptly forgot about them feeding each other the first bite of cake! My dad started serving up the cake, and it was clear he’d never served up cake before LOL! Eventually Georgia took over cutting and serving the cake!
We had a good time the rest of the reception, just hanging out and talking. My mom was so happy to have so many of her loved ones around her!
Afterwards, we went outside for some family photos. We got some of my parents, Brad and me, and my mom’s brother’s family. Some of just my mom’s brother’s family, and some of just us. We got several of just my mom and dad, looking into each others’ eyes and being all romantic. It was so cute! Brad chose a good spot for these.
We decided after the wedding to go to our respective houses and change clothes, then meet back for a hike at my parents’ favorite trail. That will be my next blog entry, but it might be a few days before it’s posted. Brad has spent every minute possible since we got home editing pictures, and he spent the last couple of days designing a wedding album for my parents so they could take advantage of a 30% discount sale going on right now. So he needs to take some time for himself before he finishes editing the pictures of the hike. He’s really doing very poorly, so it might even be a week before he has those pictures ready for posting. So stay tuned!
