A Taste of Magic   Recently updated!

On Saturday, Brad, Tam, Felix, and I went to a gala fundraiser for the Children’s Attention Home. This charity provides transitional housing and support for youth who have aged out of foster care. A very worthwhile cause!

We all dressed up for the event. I wore a pink dress with sequins, Brad wore a peacock blazer with pink accents, Tam wore black, and Felix had a black vest and a tuxedo bandana. We arrived early and looked at the silent auction items and more information about the organization.

We were going around some high tables set up with ways you could help the organization. They had long tablecloths on the floor and the aisles between the tables were very narrow. One of the tablecloths got caught on one of my wheelchair wheels and I almost pulled the table over! Luckily we caught it in time and got everything sorted!

Before the experience started, the magician, who was the main entertainment of the night, stopped by our table to do a private trick just for us because of Felix! I was so excited and he started doing the trick with me. Only then some very rude people came over and kept interrupting me to ask me about Felix and try to pet him. I kept trying to tell them I was busy but they insisted. Sheesh! So I missed the trick. I was super bummed about that.

The servers were all very nice, and we had some really excellent food! They had a bar with a specialty cocktail called the Rainwater that was very tasty.

The experience was catered by some famous local chefs, and they did an excellent job! After the meal, there were some speeches and then the magic show started! The magician was FANTASTIC!!!!!! He really did an excellent job and was hilarious as well as super talented.

The evening ended with a donation drive, and they raised a lot of money! We didn’t win anything in the silent auction, but we had a fantastic time!

There was a photo setup there, and we got some pictures taken, but the guy wasn’t as talented as our Brad! And I did end up letting several people pet Felix over the course of the night when I wasn’t busy doing something else. He had a very good time. He ended up being on the floor while I ate as there wasn’t enough room for me to transfer to a regular chair and have him sit in my wheelchair. He was a very good boy on the floor.

Brad got some pictures, and they are all below. Enjoy!
