Actually went somewhere

Today we actually went somewhere! This morning I had to go pick up a collection jug for my 24 hour cortisol test. It was the first time I’ve worked Hestia in probably a month and a half to two months. She was great!

We walked in and she stayed in perfect heel. I went up to the counter and checked in, and as I was walking away from the counter the receptionist called out “And cute dog!”. I said thanks, and almost immediately someone from the back shouted out “No dogs!”. Luckily the receptionist shouted back “It’s a service dog”, and then everyone was fine.

I had to stand over to the side while waiting for my collection jug to come out, and Hestia stayed on the floor next to me, not sniffing, not doing anything. Just hanging out like a perfect little service dog.

I wanted to get a picture, but by the time I fumbled my phone out, a lab tech had come out with my jug.

So I settled on taking a picture when we got back to the van. Hestia is a small white and black dog with a smushed nose and googley eyes sitting in a van. Next to her on the seat is a large clear plastic bag with a white measuring cup and an orange jug inside. The bag says “specimen bag” in big black letters on it.

But that wasn’t the end of our adventure! Well, it was the end of Hestia’s, as she didn’t have to do anything else. But I had to go to Walmart and pick up an order, and then to the pet store to pick up Hestia’s food. We stayed in the van for those and had the employees put things in our trunk or passenger compartment.

Walmart was funny! They gave us extra tortilla chips, dairy-free cheese, coconut milk, tomato paste, honey, and green chilies! But they didn’t give us enough jalapeƱos. And they were out of the other kind of honey I ordered. But with the extra honey I got, I’ll have enough for kombucha making for a little while. And I’ll just have to use some pickled jalapeƱos for the salsa I’ll be making.
