Anniversary and errands

Today was Brad’s and my 24th wedding anniversary! Tam took us out to lunch as our anniversary present, and while we were out, we got a bunch of errands done!

First we stopped by to drop off some things to Brad’s parents. I had taken a Norco for my recent ankle surgery right before we left. I’ve been taking about one Norco a day for a few days, and have been noticing increased irritability. I was irritated at noises, and irritated at silence, and irritated at everything. I finally put it together as we were leaving their house that the Norco might be causing me to be highly irritated. We googled it, and that is a potential side effect. So no more Norco for me!

Our next stop was to pick up my new glasses! I took a clonopin when we got there to try to dampen down the irritability. Luckily I like my new glasses! They are larger than any of the frames I’ve had since 6th grade! But since they are progressive lenses, they had to be larger lenses. They are rectangular and pink. Luckily I had no problems adjusting immediately to them, even though my prisms went up by a factor of 2 and I got progressives for the first time.

Brad got a few pictures of me in my new frames. Felix is on my lap, wearing a green Tinkerbell vest, and Tam is in the background smiling away! I have my hair braided on the sides, which it is now just long enough to do.

Our plan was to go to a Thai restaurant next. Brad and I have tried going to this restaurant twice before, and both times when we’ve showed up, there’s a sign on the door saying they’re closed for some reason or another (like going to visit Thailand etc). So we pulled up today and it happened again! They were closed for the Thai new year!

Luckily Tam thought to take us to the Fish Market in Ft Mill. It was a bit further than we had planned on driving, but she said it was a great restaurant, so Brad and I wanted to try it!

We got there and walked in, and it took forever for us to be seated. They were busier than usual! But we ended up with a very nice waiter who got us a seat right by the fireplace. I needed to keep my leg elevated, so I transferred to a regular seat and put my leg up on my wheelchair next to Felix. Unfortunately in doing so, I did put weight on my ankle. It was painful, but I don’t think I broke anything, so that’s good.

We got some pictures of my setup, and a picture of Brad and Tam, too! Unfortunately we forgot to get one of Brad and me, but it was kinda hard as we were on opposite sides of the table. Brad is wearing a maroon suit, and Tam is wearing black.

Lunch was fantastic! But I started to feel very funny. I think it was the combination of the Norco plus the clonopin. Everything started feeling very fuzzy and confusing, kinda like I had been drinking. Luckily it wasn’t a scary or bad feeling, I just felt like I was a little loopy.

I had a pimento cheese burger for lunch, and creme brûlée for dessert. It was so tasty! At the end of the meal, I had to use the bathroom, and Tam came with to help.

The accessible stall was really tiny and I almost couldn’t get my wheelchair in it. I did manage to, and Tam helped me not get my dress in the toilet. But then I had to get out and wash my hands, and there was someone else in the bathroom and there was just no room for anything! So as we’re all trying to maneuver, someone tried to open the door and hit me!

Eventually we got it sorted, I washed my hands and got out of the way so that everyone else could use the restroom.

I started feeling less out of it, so we headed to go vote. We did curbside voting, which was nice because we didn’t have to get out of the car (a big production with my wheelchair and Brad’s wheelchair and Felix and Tam– requiring the ramp to be deployed and put back up twice each time). I got a selfie of the three of us in the car waiting!

Finally we went to Sam’s Club to do our shopping. Everything had worn off by then (the medication), so we were able to get all our shopping done without an issue. We were only in the store for probably under an hour, which is great for Sam’s Club! I love their scan and go, too, so we can ring up our purchases as we put them in the cart!

We did get ourselves a little treat. We saw the wines, and Tam went to the reds and I went to the whites. I grabbed a bottle of Biltmore Riesling, and Tam grabbed a bottle of Biltmore red wine (can’t remember the type). So we got both to treat ourselves!

We did get a selfie in the frozen aisle! It’s a bit blurry, but OK.

We were so happy to have finished almost all our errands! We had an amazon return still to do, but decided to do that another day.

Boy what a busy day! It was great to get out as I was starting to get stir crazy, but it was a lot especially after not doing anything for almost a week!

I’m thinking tonight we might open some of that Biltmore wine and celebrate our accomplishments today, and make a toast to our 24th anniversary!
