And now we come to my favorite part of the whole adventure—the best fountain! This fountain had a series of jets that shot water over and across a walkway. So by walking down the walkway, you were walking underneath the fountain!
The first time I went through the fountain, I ducked my head because there were droplets of water falling on me like a light rainstorm. Then I realized I could take my glasses off and go through the fountain with my head held high and water on my face!
This was SO fun! I went through over and over and over again! I had to keep Felix on my lap because without my glasses I’m legally blind. I had enough vision to ensure I didn’t run into any people, but I didn’t have enough vision to make sure I didn’t run over a little doggie!
When we got done with the fountain, we found the carnivorous plants! There’s one shot of an Iris in there, but the rest are pitcher plants! I have always loved carnivorous plants. Unfortunately these weren’t doing so well in the hot sun, and looked a little worse for wear.
We headed back to the main fountain, and then past it to the butterfly house. I was really excited to go there, but when I approached, they told me service dogs weren’t allowed in. Bummer. So we headed back to my favorite fountain, taking pictures of some Asian oak trees on the way.
I was so happy to be back at my favorite fountain again! This time there were some little girls experiencing it with me. We took turns very nicely.
One thing I forgot to mention about this fountain is that about every 10 minutes, the fountain shuts off for 5 minutes. So I was happily going through one time when all of the sudden the fountain turned off. That meant that the columns of water above me came crashing down all over me! I was drenched, and so was Felix!
I laughed SO HARD at this turn of events! I had water all in my wheelchair bag and my shoes, and we were worried my wheelchair might not work because it had gotten so wet! Luckily all was fine.
We got a few pictures of a very wet Felix and myself on the way out of the park, and through the trellises again.
We did stop by the gift store on the way out, and found a very squishy toy dog that I loved. But I didn’t get it! There were also these beautiful crystal things to hang in your windows which we also did not get (though Brad did use one in front of his lens in a picture of me).
And finally, on the way through the parking lot, Brad saw two palm trees that looked like pom-poms or exploding fireworks. So he had me pose between them to make it look like their pom-poms were my hair!
We had such a wonderful time at the botanical gardens, and I just can’t wait to go back!
