On Monday we celebrated family day. On the 9th of every month, we celebrate being a family of three and remember Tamara’s mom, our wonderful Aunt Nancy. The 9th is the anniversary of so many things.
We decided to celebrate by going couch shopping. The couch we currently have doesn’t work at all for Brad and is uncomfortable for me. Plus it has negative memories associated with it. I brought my wheelchair as I’m supposed to stay off my feet, but ended up not using it because I thought I’d be sitting down a lot and I was too tired to get it in and out of the car a million times.
Turns out those furniture showrooms are a lot bigger than I thought, so we actually did a fair amount of walking! My feet are paying for it still two days later!
We went to two furniture stores before lunch. We have very specific requirements in a couch. We want a smaller sectional L shaped couch with at least two recliners that do zero-G recline or recline very far, and only in cloth, not leather.
After those two stores, we stopped for lunch. Tamara remembered at the last minute she had gotten a $10 off coupon for Red Lobster last time we were there, so we headed there for lunch. Brad got several pictures! We had great food, including yummy cheddar bay biscuits. We also took home a whole basket of biscuits LOL!
Felix did a good job at the restaurant, and mostly stayed on his mat under the table. Brad got a great shot of him under the table looking up at me.
Then it was back to couch shopping. There’s a street in Pineville that is full of furniture stores, so we hit almost all of them. I think in the end we went to about 8 furniture stores. Many of them, we walked in, said what we were looking for, and they said they didn’t have it. So while 8 stores sounds like a lot, probably only half of those stores had couches for us to sit on.
Felix was so good the whole time! He just hung around with me on my lap on the couches and everyone LOVED him! He was a bit hit!
Tamara and I found our perfect couch at the La-Z-Boy store, but it didn’t recline far enough for Brad. They are getting a new line of zero-G sectionals in sometime between July and October, so we gave them our info and they will call us when they come in. Then for free they have a service where they will come out to your house, measure your room, and create a digital mock-up of it. When you go back to the showroom, they can put any sofa orientation into the room to determine how it will fit. And they will serve us snacks! So this sounds good to me!
We’ll keep looking at other furniture stores in the area in the meantime, but if all else fails, we’ll see La-Z-Boy when the new line comes in.
Brad took some pictures at the first furniture stores, and at lunch, but he was too tired to take pictures at every furniture store. Below are all the pictures!
