Botanical gardens: Children’s garden

On our date to the botanical gardens, Brad and I went to the children’s garden after lunch. The children’s garden is the only part of the gardens that is not paved. But the crushed gravel was packed enough that we could get our wheelchairs on it…well, mostly LOL!

The first structure we came to was a stone gazebo of sorts. Brad got some great pictures of us in there, and some pictures of Felix looking fabulous!

Then we went on the toughest trail, which was a bit more washed out so the gravel was very uneven. We could only go so far before we had to turn around, and Brad got some pictures of me coming back up the hill looking very shocked at how off-road we were seeming.

We got a few pictures of Felix and me underneath one of the supports for the gazebo, and some pictures of Felix with a statue of a boy and his dog.

Then we came across an area meant for climbing on! They had a horse statue and some thrones that were meant for kids to play on. So of course Felix and I had to get on them and pose!

We took a rather rough, but still passable trail down to a giant birdcage! Brad got some interesting photos of me trapped in the birdcage, and posing in the doorway.

Down in this area, they also had a little cave-like structure with the heavens pained on the walls and ceiling. It was just tall enough for me to fit in using my wheelchair.

On the way back up, Brad got several shots of Felix and me posing with trees.

And for our final stop in the children’s garden, Brad got on one of the thrones, and I rode the horse statue!

Stay tuned for our next blog entry about the gardens, which will involve two fountains and a prairie.
