Today for Black Friday, we had a couple of things we needed to get done. Brad, Tam, Felix, and I went out together!
Our first stop was food. I had a free Jr. Bacon Cheeseburger coupon with any purchase at Wendy’s. And Wendy’s was running a special 67 cent Frosty deal, too! So we got some fast food for lunch and brought it to Cherry Park to eat it. It was chilly at Cherry Park, but we had fun enjoying our unhealthy treats! I forgot to bring Felix’s coat, so I had to keep him snuggled up to me to keep him warm. Luckily in the sun it wasn’t too bad.
Next we headed to Home Depot. We are thinking of getting a gas heater for our patio so that Brad can come out and hang out with Tam and me in the winter. I have a heated camp chair out there, so I’m good. But Brad gets very cold. We wanted to see some heaters in person and save on shipping, but the only ones they had in the store were propane, and we have a natural gas hookup.
Home Depot was EXTREMELY busy!!!!! They had free hot chocolate, candy canes, and oreos at the entrance. Of course Tam and I partook! The crowds were wild, though, and we just got a couple of things we needed, and quickly browsed the Christmas stuff. I had a very hard time there, as I’m still getting used to the overstimulation of hearing aids, and it was very crowded and noisy.
But all the ladies working at the front LOVED Felix and they also thought my outfit, and especially my necklace were so cute. My necklace is a blue and pink one that my dad got me in Nashville. They were also fawning over Brad because he was so handsomely dressed!
Brad got a video of Felix and I heading down an aisle of Christmas trees. Felix did a good job on the floor, but most of the store he was in my lap because it was too crowded and FULL of unruly pet dogs. Here’s the video, in which I am wearing purple and pink, and so is Felix. And I am in my Jazzy wheelchair.
Speaking of my wheelchair, I thought I charged it after my last outing, but the plug must not have been in all the way because it was on two bars of battery when I got it out at Home Depot. Yikes! So I was nervous it would run out of charge in the store. Luckily it did not!
When we were checking out, there were three dogs in close quarters with us. Unfortunately, one person with a cattle dog was just letting his dog do whatever the heck it wanted at the end of a long Flexi leash. It nearly got in a fight with another dog there. Super scary! I am so glad my dogs are small and I can keep them safe on my lap!
After Home Depot, we had to go to EarthFare to get more dish detergent. Luckily there was hardly anyone in the grocery store since it was the day after Thanksgiving! This store was much easier for me, though Felix really had a hard time with the very noisy and high pitched meat department. I just stayed away as much as possible from that area.
There was another service dog in the store, a black lab mix, it looked like. It was very interested in Felix, but I’m not sure its owner knew Felix was there. Felix just looked at the dog but didn’t do anything else.
I got a picture of Felix on my lap in the store. You can really see his purple wings on his pink vest! He is about to stick his tongue out in the picture!

We got lots of Brad friendly treats at EarthFare, which was fun! But oh my, 4 bags of groceries was $100!
Now we are back home and about to relax. We will probably finish our patio heater shopping online. We hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving and a low-stress Black Friday!
