The 9th of every month is when we celebrate our decision to be a family of three, and remember the loss of our beloved Aunt Nancy. So we try to do something special. I got a $10 coupon to Firebirds, and Tamara had a $20 gift card that was expiring, so we headed on over.
I was wearing a lavender sequin and chiffon dress. Felix had a galaxy vest on. Brad was wearing pink with sequins and accents of blue. Tam was, as usual, wearing black LOL!
Even though it was a hot day out, the patio had a nice breeze, so we ate out there. We were the only ones out there, so we got the whole place to ourselves. It was great!
We took a bunch of pictures of each other before the food arrived, including pics of each of the two of us and some fun selfies of all three of us (plus Felix!).
When our food came out, we were shocked at the size of Tam’s “side salad” that she got as an add-on for her sandwich. It was on a huge plate that was filled full of salad! The server apologized and said they had someone new in the kitchen who accidentally made it too big. Well we weren’t going to complain about that! It was an excellent Caesar salad! And Tam pretty much only ate that as her meal and a few tater tots from the rest of her meal.
She also got a hot honey chicken sandwich with bacon, which I shared with her at a later date and it was SO YUMMY!!!!!! I will have to get that myself sometime!
I got a salad and sandwich combo with a Caesar salad and a roast beef grilled cheese. The salad was better than the grilled cheese, though the grilled cheese was still good enough I might order it again in the future. Brad got an appetizer of deviled eggs with jalapeños and bacon, and some port wine mushrooms. Pictures are below!
We had a great time eating and talking! Felix was pretty good, mostly staying on the ground and looking up at me. He was interested in a gum wrapper on the floor, so I pushed that under the table so he couldn’t get to it.
After Firebirds, we went to the DMV to register Tam’s car. Luckily that was quick and easy. I went to the bathroom and apparently I had tucked my skirt into my undies! Luckily one of the employees saw it before I turned my back to the crowded room and informed me!
It was a nice, calm interlude to what has been a very busy week for me with lots of doctor’s appointments. We are still trying to get my stress fractures and ankle sorted out, so I’m having to visit a lot of medical professionals to do that. Ugh.
But still, family day was a fun break from the drudgery of doctor appointments, and I look forward to seeing what we’ll try next family day!
