Song and story

Yesterday, we went to an event for the Patchwork storytelling festival. It was billed as “recommended for adults”, but held at 2:30 PM. Turns out the main audience were senior citizens! There were a few busses from senior homes in the parking lot. We were by FAR the youngest people there. And we’re not exactly spring chickens! I’d guess we are more summer quail.

The event had two presenters. The first, Laurelyn Dossett, is a woman who tells stories through songwriting. Her music was very nice, but of course I couldn’t really understand most of the words because of my hearing. The biggest problem, though, was that her guitar and earrings were shiny, and the reflected lights from above kept flashing into my eyes. This has a tendency to cause me to panic.

Unfortunately I didn’t think to simply shut my eyes (already enough in panic about it that I couldn’t think logically). So I looked away, and focused on Hestia who climbed up on my chest to give me pressure therapy.

The next presenter, Bobby Norfolk, is a man who used to work at the arch in St. Louis. He had done tons of research about the Lewis and Clark expedition, and told us all kinds of fun details and stories that one only knows through lots of experience with the primary documentation like the letters of the explorers etc. His presentation was very informative, and he was great to watch and listen to. He was extremely animated and had great sound effects!

Of course we got a few pics 🙂 Here they are!

Selfie of Brad, Veronica, and Hestia. Bad pic of Veronica (who looks naked as her hair is covering up her dress) and Hestia (who is half cut off) but great picture of Brad! He is wearing a red blazer, red floral tie, off-white silk flower and beetle pin on his lapel, and a straw fedora. His big bushy beard is the focus of the picture.

Some people say I don't take a bad pic, but this is two in a row! You can see more of my dress in this picture-- it is turquoise with black polka dots, cut in a 50s style. Hestia is looking down, and Brad is once again looking very handsome.

Finally a tolerable selfie! Brad looks great, Hestia is looking to the side just a little bit, so you see her googley-ness, and my face is smushed between them.
