Appointments and Chili’s   Recently updated!

The never ending cycle of doctors appointments continues! Today Tam and I went to two appointments, and then out to lunch.

My first appointment was with my eye doctor. I brought Felix and my wheelchair, and Felix hung out happily on my wheelchair while my eyes were tested. It was a new eye doctor that I hadn’t seen before, and it turns out he used to breed St. Bernards and knew a lot about dog shows and breeding and everything. So we had a great conversation! We also graduated from the same University– UNC Chapel Hill! I went there for my bachelor’s and master’s, and he went there for his bachelor’s.

Felix took a nice snooze during my appointment on my wheelchair. I forgot to get a picture, though.

Luckily my medication isn’t causing damage to my eyes (I have to get checkups every 6 months to make sure). But he did find out that I am starting to develop cataracts. At just 45 years old, too!

He also said that I’m getting to the point where I need bifocals. But I have to have small frames because my lenses are so heavy due to my high prescription and prisms. If I get big enough frames to house the bifocal lenses, they will be too heavy for me and I’ll get headaches. So instead he said I’ll need to get some cheap readers from Amazon and put those on over my glasses when I need to see up close. Fun fun.

Next, we headed to my psych nurse. That was a quick appointment, since I am doing well mentally despite my physical health being terrible. Oh, and while we were on the way there, my cardiologist called and they had a cancellation for Monday! That’s great because ever since Friday, I’ve had tightness in my chest and some chest pains. So I am very happy that they are getting me in so soon instead of at my originally scheduled appointment for mid-November.

When I told my psych nurse about my chest pains, she asked me if I didn’t think I should go to the ER about them, but I think they can wait until Monday. The pains aren’t bad and they come and go, and the tightness isn’t all the time. So I’m probably fine until Monday I think.

After that, we headed to Chili’s to use Tam’s gift card for lunch. We sat in a booth and Felix got to hang out on my wheelchair seat during the meal. He slept quite a bit, but also enjoyed some pets from a few people who asked politely. We had amazing food and service! It was a huge improvement from the last time Tam went to that restaurant. I would definitely go back after the wonderful time we had today!

Tam got a picture of Felix hanging out on my wheelchair while we were eating. He is such a cutie! For those who don’t know, he’s a sable and white Japanese Chin. I didn’t have a vest on him, just his seatbelt from traveling in the car. The picture is at the end of the blog entry.

Tomorrow we have a doctor appointment for Tam, and then we have the weekend off, yay! I was very thankful for Tam driving me to my appointments today, she always makes outings fun, even when they’re mostly visiting doctors offices.
