A fun day with Tam   Recently updated!

Today Tam and I had a fun outing! We had been planning on going to the Y to swim this afternoon. But just as I was about to fix myself some lunch, Tam asked if I wanted to go out to lunch. You don’t have to ask me twice!

So we decided to go to Subway for lunch, since I had a $10 coupon there. I left Felix at home because he would not enjoy being at the pool. He’d have to sit by the side of the pool for a very long time while we swam, and I know he’d be scared about the water and not enjoy staying still for that long. We usually swim for 1.5-2 hours at a time. Sometimes being a good service dog handler means knowing when to leave your dog behind.

My favorite sub was the sub of the day, so for the same price as it usually costs, I was able to get a free chips and drink! I took home my chips, but did get lemonade, and refilled it before we left.

Next we headed to Target to buy a ball. I brought my Jazzy Ultra Light, and it was so easy to get it in and out of Tam’s car. I set it up and realized I forgot the seat cushion. Luckily it’s very comfortable even without the seat cushion! You just sit lower in the chair. I was able to use my new side pouch to hold my lemonade from Subway! Tam got a picture of me being excited about my lemonade in the cup holder, and we got a selfie of us with the sun shining in the background.

It took us a while, but eventually we found the ball section at Target. We found a cool 20 sided die that was made out of soft material, and thought we should get that, but it was very expensive. Then we found a super cheap blow up ball that we thought we’d get. But finally we found the Nerf section and got the perfect pink Nerf ball. It is nice and soft and a wonderful color.

While we were there, we also found some Halloween dog toys for the dogs. They are small “candy bars” that are really stuffed dog toys with squeakers. They have riffs on the names of the candies so they are dog themed. Like Furshies instead of Hershey’s. They are the right size for my dogs!

Here’s a picture with Tam holding the two items we got, and pretending to eat the candy bars. By the way, I had a gift card that covered about half of the purchase!

We ended up at the YMCA just as the pool opened. We got some pictures of us with our ball in our swim suits and goggles in the dressing room. I am wearing my new purple goggles that are almost my prescription! Did you know you can get those on Amazon?! And they’re less than $20!

Previously when we’ve gone swimming, we just did laps back and forth. But that is starting to get a bit boring. So this time we walked sideways (I think that’s called crab walking) up and down the pool while throwing the ball back and forth between us. Tam jumped up and down as she walked sideways, and I did squats as I walked sideways.

It was SO MUCH FUN!!!!!!! We were there an hour and a half, and talked and threw the ball the whole time. We had so much fun talking about anything and everything. And the ball throwing was pretty fun, too! I got hit in the face multiple times, and also the ball would hit the water right in front of me and splash my face and hair all over. There weren’t many other people there, but we made sure to give everyone plenty of space so no errant ball would hit them!

When we got out, we took one more selfie of us changed into our regular clothes.

We were exhausted, so we headed home with a couple of quick stops to pick things up on the way. It was a great day, and I’m so happy we got some good exercise and also had so much fun! Can’t wait to go swimming again!
