This morning I went to see the podiatrist. This is the same podiatrist where I had such a hard time a few years ago with the service dog issue. One of the receptionists had demanded to see an ID and spent 15 minutes harassing me about it. I ended up writing them a letter and they retrained their staff and had the offending person write me an apology letter. So I was a bit nervous coming back!
But I got such a warm reception with Felix! Everyone said how beautiful and calm he was, and all the receptionists wanted to see him.
They ended up taking X-rays of my feet. The X-rays were of such low intensity that I didn’t even need a lead cape, so they just had me hold Felix so he would be far away from the radiation.
Turns out I have stress fractures in my feet! In my metatarsals to be exact. Which is strange because I use my wheelchair most of the time when I go out! So now they’re worried about my bone density. I have to take Vitamin D, get a bone density scan, and buy at least two pairs of shoes—one for around the house, and at least one for going out. I’m also supposed to stay off my feet. And go back in 6 weeks.
They gave me a list of brands of shoes that I can pick from, so I will try to do that.
Felix was a rock star during the whole exam, and everyone loved him!
Oh and the podiatrist said I should still go see the vascular surgeon because my stress fractures don’t explain all my pain. Fun fun (sarcasm).
