Puppy practices on unusual surfaces

Yesterday we introduced Alice to walking on unusual surfaces!

I laid out various types of bubble wrap, cellophane packaging, a cardboard box, a platform, a wire grate, and a foam wheelchair cushion on the floor. I used chicken to lure Alice into stepping on these. She did a great job! She was a little confused at first how to step up, but seems to be figuring that out. The only surface she wasn’t totally confident in was the wire grate, so we’ll be working more with that for sure.

This type of exposure is so important early on to get a service dog prospect used to walking on all sorts of different surfaces that they will experience throughout their career.

Enjoy the video Brad took, it is sped up pretty fast!
