Coastal breeze for cooking 1

Since I’ve been baking more and making kombucha, I have collected quite a lot of tea and gluten free baking supplies (you need like 5 different kinds of flour to bake various gluten free things!). Our kitchen doesn’t have a lot of cabinet space, so things were starting to jump out on our heads when we’d open the cabinets!

A few weeks ago we found a cabinet we liked on facebook that had interesting carvings in the front, but it was a really boring color (dark brown). For those who know us, you know that boring brown just won’t do! So we picked out a paint color and I painted it!

The color we chose is called coastal breeze. It is a light turquoise/aqua color depending on the lighting in the room. We wanted a slightly darker hue, but this color looked darker in the paint sample. But it’s OK, it looks really good in our kitchen against our yellow (peach tickle) walls.

We put it in the dining nook. We don’t have a table there because we never eat or sit at tables, and because a table would take up the room Brad needs to turn around in his wheelchair.

I took some pictures with different lighting setups so you can see our new kitchen setup, and have included a before picture, too.

This is the dresser before paint. It is about 3 feet tall by three feet wide with three drawers. The front is carved intricately with an exotic pattern. The middle front of the dresser bulges out in a curved manner. In this picture, I already removed the handles for painting.

This picture shows our entire dining nook area. The cabinet sits in the middle of the area against the wall underneath a painting of a sunset in a pink and blue sky done by my mom. There are two one-gallon jars of kombucha brewing on top of the dresser, and a turquoise toaster. To the right of the dresser is a brown paper bag for our compost which is in a storage container that has pink, purple, and teal butteries on it. On the right wall there is an African sunset. To the left of the dresser is a dog water bowl on a dog themed mat underneath a window.

A closeup of the dresser, in this light it looks more blue. The two kombucha brewing jars on top of it are filled with an amber liquid with some cloudy chunks in it and have white rags on top of each jar.

Hestia, a small white and black dog with a smushed nose and googley eyes, sits in front of the dresser.

This picture was taken with the overhead light off, so the dresser looks more green. Hestia once again graces us with her presence in the picture.
