No chinny, yes guinea 3

Yesterday I spent most of the day without Hestia. After lunch, I headed out to go swimming with my friend Doc. Hestia gets really worried when I go in water, so I cannot bring her with me. Doc and I swam 7 laps! The last lap, I really pushed myself, swimming really fast and really getting my heart rate up.

After swimming, we went back to Doc’s house where we met up with our friend Dan. The swimming had really pumped me up, and my mood was pretty high. On a scale of 1-10, I was at a 6.5 which is very close to danger level for me in going manic. Part of it was swimming, and another part of it has to do with my recent Quora obsession (more on that in another blog entry!).

Luckily Doc has guinea pigs, so when we got to his place, he let me hold Mariah for a long while. I had a great time with her! And she kept my mood from skyrocketing out of control. Just that animal to connect with is very helpful.

We spent a long while talking, which was really really fun! Then we watched Unrest, which is a documentary about Chronic Fatigue Syndrome. That was pretty sobering, as that is the disease Brad has. That brought my mood down to about a 5.5.

When Doc’s wife got home, we had dinner and then headed to a NAMI meeting. It was a small group of people there, but it was a really good meeting. We talked and talked, and had a great time helping each other.

After the NAMI meeting, I headed home. I was happy to see Hestia, and she was ecstatic to see me! It was really good to be without her for a day and remember why I usually have her! Doc and Dan are great service humans, but Hestia really does it best. I can’t wait to hang out with Doc and Dan again soon!

Mariah the guinea pig is mostly white with black splotches on her head, and a black bum. She is super cute and sitting on my lap!

I admire all you are able to do, Brad too, I get frantic when I have to leave Eowyn at the vet for a few hours when I go for my spinal injections.

Guinea Pigs are WONDERFUL !! Thank you for sharing your day with us. Reading your adventures makes me feel like I have someone who understands what it is like being “me” AND I am not alone in my struggle to be a worthwhile person. Thank you for your courage!!
