Wheeling around Earth Fare

Today Earth Fare had a coupon for $15 off, so after the Panthers game, Brad and I headed out. I brought Alice and my wheelchair with me! Normally Earth Fare trips are really hard for me because Brad takes a really long time looking at things and I get really tired and in pain. But that’s not the case with my wheelchair!

The first complication arose when we tried to figure out how we were going to carry stuff around the store. Neither of us could push a cart, so we both got hand baskets and put them on our laps.

I started out with Alice loose on my lap, and the basket in front of her. But this wasn’t very comfortable for Alice or me, so pretty quickly I got out the pouch and put Alice in there. That way we were both able to be comfortable.

I didn’t have to get that many things at Earth Fareā€”skip this paragraph if you don’t want to read about them! I got my coconut sugar sweetened chocolate. I usually get Dr. Bronner’s chocolate. I also found Hu has a similar chocolate, so I got one bar from them, too. They had a sale on cara cara oranges, which are my absolute favorite type of oranges and Walmart doesn’t stock them anymore. So I got a bunch of those. I also got butternut squash which was on sale. To go with it, I got some bacon to make my Butternut squash-mango-bacon hash recipe.

Brad spent lots and lots of time looking at things in the store. He really enjoys the number of foods they have that he can eat! But there’s so much he can’t eat, so he spends a lot of time looking and reading ingredients.

At one point, Brad’s basket got full so he had to drop it off at the front and get another one!

Alice was pretty good throughout the store. She was not 100% comfortable, though. She shook some and was panting some. I guess it’s been a while since she was in a grocery store. And she’s never been in one with me in my wheelchair having a basket on my lap!

Brad snapped a picture of Alice and me at checkout. I am wearing my new grey witch dress and a grey slouchy witch hat. Alice is a sable and white Japanese Chin in a rainbow pouch. We totally forgot to get pics elsewhere in the store, and didn’t have a lot of time at checkout, so the picture isn’t great of Alice.

Thankfully we were almost completely left alone in the store! Only the checkout guy talked with me about Alice, and he just couldn’t stop saying how cute and adorable she was.

After an hour and a half in the store, we were happy to head home and relax! Which is what we are doing now with America’s Funniest Home Videos!
