Final physical therapy

This morning I had my final physical therapy session!

You may remember that I went in before to learn some exercises to do at home. Today was a check-in to see how well those exercises have been going and give me direction for the future.

I brought Hestia since it’s hard to do exercises and train a dog at the same time. She was excited to come with me and really excited when we arrived at physical therapy. She was pulling on her way in the building she was so excited… Um, not great, Hestia! So we worked on that some.

Lots of people in the waiting room wanted to talk with me about her. I couldn’t hear them really well, so I mostly nodded and smiled.

When it was our turn to go back, the physical therapist had me sit down and go over the exercises again. We talked about how to ramp them up on my own, and ways to get some exercise in even when my hips are having a bad day.

When it was time for me to leave, she told me I didn’t need to come back unless something changed. And then she told me how much she enjoyed Hestia! She said that Hestia is always so calm, well behaved, respectful of the equipment, stayed out of the way, and always did what I asked her to. I was very surprised that she said all that, because she is a very no-nonsense physical therapist who doesn’t indulge in any chit-chat or anything. She remembered that I had brought in Alice a few times to meet my physical therapists when I was there for my foot, and asked about her. It was good to connect over my dogs.

On our way out, I saw my old physical therapist who helped me with my foot and said goodbye to her, as well.

I snapped a few selfies of Hestia and myself outside the center. I am wearing yellow and Hestia is a black and white Japanese Chin wearing a green harness.
