Grrrrrr Amazon! 3

Boy have I had trials and tribulations trying to return an Amazon package!

Apparently Amazon has a new policy where to get free returns, you have to drop a package off at a Kohl’s store.

Last week I tried to do that, and I looked up Kohl’s hours online. They said the store opened at 9AM so I showed up right at 9. Turns out they didn’t open until 10! I was so flustered that I couldn’t handle waiting an hour and so came home.

This morning I attempted to make the return again. I showed up at 10AM, and the store was open.

I opened my email to get the QR code from the email that Brad forwarded me. Well the QR code wasn’t showing up! All the other images in the email were showing up, but not the QR code. So I opened my email in a browser instead of the app, and it still didn’t work. I restarted my phone, no go. I even logged into the unsafe Kohl’s wifi to see if that would work. Nope!

I asked the Kohl’s employees if they could take my return without the QR code but nope!

I almost started crying. It is very stressful to have to go somewhere not required during this pandemic, and to leave the house, and for things not to go to plan is a lot to take. Hestia helped me through it, thank goodness.

Finally I realized that I had two options… I could return home and try a third time to do the return, or I could call Brad and wake him up and get him to re-send me the QR code. I chose the second.

I called Brad and it turns out the QR code wouldn’t load in his email either! Apparently the QR codes Amazon sends out expire after a certain period of time! UGH! Of course Brad has some ridiculously long and complicated Amazon password so I can’t sign into his account on my phone.

Instead he goes on his computer to the Amazon website, gets a new QR code, takes a screenshot, and emails that to me.

And finally, after nearly 20 minutes in the store (during COVID!!!! So unsafe!!!!) I was able to make the return. If it hadn’t been something expensive, I would probably have said just forget about returning it, it’s not worth the risk to our health.

I will be emailing Amazon with my displeasure about this new return system. It really is an awful idea! You buy things from Amazon because you want the convenience of not having to leave your house, but now to make a return you have to go somewhere?! And during a pandemic no less?! Awful!

Anyway, I did take some pictures of Hestia while I was waiting around in the store. I didn’t get any of her helping me through my anxiety, just of her on the ground. Notice in all the pictures how she positions herself so that she can watch for approaching people. I haven’t trained her specifically to do this, she does it naturally, and I really appreciate it. I watch her body language to see if people are approaching me, and it helps me to be able to be in situations where people might approach me more easily.

She is a small white and black dog with a smushed nose wearing a purple and blue galaxy themed vest with a patch on the back saying “service dog do not pet”. She has her seatbelt on underneath her vest, so on her right side you can see the yellow strap hanging down. In the first two pictures she’s with a small brown box with Amazon prime tape on it.

Hestia stands in front of me next to the Amazon box, looking outward towards people who might approach us.

You can see my red shoes on the left as Hestia lies down next to the box, again facing the direction where people might be coming from.

In line to return the package, Hestia sits next to me facing backward to watch for approaching people.

I haven’t had to return anything to Amazon lately, but when I did, Kohls was an option, not a requirement. I don’t remember exactly but I didn’t have to go anyplace.

That is sooo frustrating! I’m sorry you had to go through that! I like the fact that you tried all those different methods to get a solution. You are an excellent problem solver!

I would definitely call Amazon, having UPS pick up at my house( if they came to my.house, which they don’t) is an option for me
I have to drive 20 minutes to the nearest UPS store
