Not pleased with doctor’s office distancing 3

Today we went to the doctor to get some bloodwork done for Brad ahead of his appointment with his CFS/ME specialist. We were NOT pleased with the waiting room situation!

It takes several minutes to wait in line and go through their survey and temperature check to get in the building, which was fine. When we checked in and got in the room, it was very full. Every other seat was occupied. This meant there was no way to be 6 feet away from people! Everyone was about 3 feet away from each other. Of course since Brad is in a wheelchair and there is no wheelchair space, that means he sticks out into an aisle and people have to pass close to him.

This made me very uncomfortable! I felt like we were way too close to other people. So I went up to the receptionist station and asked if we could wait outside and when it was our turn, they could come get us. It’s like 10 feet from where the nurse calls your name to outside the front door, so not a big deal I thought. But nope!

I explained how Brad is very high risk from the virus, but she didn’t care. Instead she said “we’re not a concierge service”!!!

Luckily they had picked that day to hand out surveys for service ratings, so after I sat down I filled that sucker out! We also told Brad’s doctor and she was shocked both that they wouldn’t let us wait outside and at the concierge comment.

His doctor was very nice and ordered all the bloodwork he needed. Then we went to the lab where the techs were awesome as usual. They had fun talking about Brad’s outfit as well as how alert Hestia was (she was in my arms because I was really overwhelmed and anxious from the crowded waiting room).

I am really upset about this!
