Today I got my root canal! Brad drove me there. On the way there, we noticed that Hestia had really really bad gas. We had thought it was Ollie who had gas at home, since his tummy has been upset. But it turns out it was Miss Hestia!
When we got there, I did warn the dentist and nurses about Hestia’s really smelly gas. I figured if it got too pungent in there, I’d have Brad take Hestia out to the van to let the office air out.
Luckily Hestia only passed gas once while I was getting my root canal! Other than that she was very very good. The root canal was just like getting a cavity filled only longer. Hestia mostly slept through it. She got up to readjust positions a few times, and once when she was readjusting her foot slipped and she almost fell off me! Luckily I caught her and even more luckily the dentist wasn’t doing anything delicate at that moment!
Once again the dentist and nurses were all excellent about Hestia. I asked them if they’d ever had a patient with a service dog before, and they hadn’t! I was surprised, given how accepting they were! They really did a great job with Hestia.
I got a few pictures of Hestia in the chair with me, and some of Brad who was bee-utiful today! Brad is dressed in black with a white shirt and fedora. His shoes are black with multiple gold spikes and gold bees on them. He has a bee pin on his lapel and a different bee pin on his coat. His gray scarf has silhouettes of a spindly, bare-branched tree and birds on it, which Brad thought paired well with the bees. I am wearing my purple guinea pig leggings with a grey shirt. Hestia is a small white and black Japanese Chin wearing a purple vest.
