Gyno-ween 3

Today we went to see my gynecologist for another appointment before insurance approves my hysterectomy. Since it is Halloween, I wanted Hestia to be dressed appropriately. But I also wanted my doctor to see her as very professional so that he will be willing to fight for our access pre- and post-op if necessary. So she wore her Hufflepuff vest to the appointment as a compromise.

The appointment went well. I like my doctor more after meeting him a second time. He did a good job in the appointment, and it was only painful for a short time relatively speaking. He said insurance will also want an ultrasound, so I have to go back next Friday for one. Seems this keeps dragging on longer and longer!

After the appointment, we took some photos in the parking lot with Hestia in her bee costume. We wanted to get some pictures before the storm set in.

Next we headed to Earth Fare, our local hippie grocery store. Hestia is very well known here, so I had no worries about dressing her in her Halloween costume (with a service dog bandana) while shopping. We didn’t spend too long in the store, we were pretty fast. People didn’t seem to notice her costume, surprisingly! Only one person commented on her costume!

Other people made comments, but they were typical “Oh she’s so cute!” type comments that I get whenever I go out with a service dog– nothing specific to her costume. Hestia did quite well in the store. At checkout I was trying to pull up a coupon on my phone and a little boy was at the other register in the lane, and he kept leaning in closer and closer and closer… I was anxious anyway, so I decided to just stop it from happening and pick Hestia up. I felt better immediately! On our way out of the store, a woman commented that she liked my outfit 🙂

Finally, we headed to Walmart to pick up chicken for Ollie. We were in and out of that store super fast, and no one made any comments about Hestia’s costume in that store, either!

When we got home, we unloaded the groceries and let the dogs out to potty, and then the skies opened up with a huge rainstorm– poor Trick or Treaters!

I dressed up as a Sharknado, Ollie as a shark, and Hestia as a vacationer wearing a beach hat. Brad got some pics of that, too. Hope you enjoy all the pictures!

I am wearing a white dress with black Jack Skellingtons (from Nightmare Before Christmas) and bats on it, and black lace detailing. Hestia is wearing a yellow and black bee costume with black lace wings and a green bandana with “service dog Hestia” on it. Brad is wearing black pants, a maroon shirt, a silver and black vest, a silver tie, a maroon jacket, and a black fedora. His pins will be described in the photos.

This is a closeup of the pin in Brad's black fedora. It has a large triangular black gem surrounded by rhinestones. There are black bat wings coming out of the top of the stone, and a skull on top of the stone in between the wings.

This shot shows just Hestia in her bee costume. You can clearly read her bandana which says "Service Dog Hestia".

Brad loves doing this kind of shot! It is a closeup of Hestia's face. It is mostly in black and white with just her eyes in color.

Brad titled this shot "The Reluctant Vacationer". It is a black and white picture of Hestia looking, well, reluctant! He has replaced the couch in the background with some sky.
