Shopping with CJ 4

Today I got to hang out with my friend CJ! I went over to his house to have some coffee and chat. His wife Melissa was able to be there for some of the time.

They have a very sick guinea pig (Diana), and while Melissa was feeding Diana, Diana actually started to get a little spark in her eye and started asking for and actively eating the slurry Melissa was feeding her! I got a picture of Melissa and Diana, one of CJ, and CJ took one of Hestia and me. Unfortunately I am not a good picture taker, so CJ and Melissa are out of focus. But CJ took a good pic of Hestia and me.

We went to Taco Bell for lunch, and I had Hestia on the ground for walking around in the restaurant and in line and carrying food etc. She did a great job! Of course she was on my lap (underneath the table) while I was eating. I managed to drop a TON of food on her lol! But she was good and didn’t eat any of it.

Next we headed to Goodwill, where I found The Princess Bride special Buttercup edition for only $2 on DVD! We only have it on VHS, and our VHS player is broken. CJ found a really neat shirt that looks like graph paper!

I decided to work Hestia in her seatbelt harness which has a metal service dog tag slid onto the seatbelt attachment. Not for any really good reason, I just didn’t feel like going to the back of the van to get a vest. Anyway, LOTS of people asked about Hestia in goodwill. Everyone was super nice, and they were all either petting, asking to pet, or making googley eyes at Hestia (she was happy to return the googley-eyed favor!).

We walked down to Publix, where a very nice man approached me and very nicely told me that dogs aren’t allowed in the store. I said service dog, and he apologized and said they get a lot of ESAs trying to gain access. I asked him if he knew the two questions he could ask, and he did, and I thanked him for asking the questions, as I don’t like fakers any more than he does!

On the way back to the car, we stopped into TJ Maxx for some tea. I found 100% hibiscus tea, and some peach-mango tea. Can’t wait to make some iced tea out of those!

I really like hanging out with CJ. We think so much alike. And I feel safe mentally when we are together. Normally it is hard for me to change plans last minute, or stop into a store we didn’t plan to go into. But with CJ and Hestia to help me, I managed it!

I even managed to pay in cash at Goodwill! I have a hard time paying in cash because cash is more “real” seeming than a credit card. When I see the cash I am paying, I get more feelings of “I’m not worth this amount of money”. So yay for me paying cash!

aw, poor piggins, hope she’s healthy again soon!

you def hit a milestone with the paying cash thing–way to know that you do matter and that you are valuable!

    excellent job at Publix!

Goodwill used to be Doppler’s fave place besides Dollar Tree to hang out…he used to park his big ol furbutt under the racks and sleep 😛

LOL, most guys would love to just sleep through a trip to goodwill he he he! Though with Brad, he likes to look at EVERY CD they have. Even when I go clothes shopping and have tons to try on, I’m usually done before him!

TJ Maxx is a store I am slowly adding to my list of shopping places. After we moved to the UP of Michigan friends of my husband and I introduced us and now we get many of our daughters’ toys there. I don’t remember ever seeing one back in California although I likewise didn’t go out of my comfort zone there either. What is Publix? I don’t think I have ever heard of that store. Taco Bell is also a favorite of mine as well especially since it is one of the few vegetarian restaurants in our area 🙂

Yes, when we were vegan and vegetarian, Taco Bell was one of our favs! Still is, even though we do eat meat now. Publix is a grocery store. I don’t remember seeing a TJ Maxx in Cali, but not sure.
