Having a hard time getting back to normal

It’s hard to get back to normal after the convention. Today we had to do just two errands. I very nearly didn’t make it!

The first stop was to Office Depot where we had to mail some things. I got so overwhelmed by the interaction I had to go wander the store. I did find a frame for Hestia’s PAT certificate, though, for $5.99.

Then we went to Sam’s Club. Boy was that hard. First of all the door greeter wanted to talk with me at length about my dog. Not to refuse access, but he wanted to know her breed, where I got her, where he could get a dog like her etc. I finally said I was in a hurry and left, with him shouting after me that I had better stop by and answer his questions on the way out.

Hestia was good in the store.  But she was lagging behind me.  I think she was as tired out from the convention as I was!  About halfway through she was lagging so much and I was feeling so anxious that I just carried her the rest of the time.  I couldn’t make decisions about the items in the store, and became increasingly disoriented.

When we got back to the car with groceries, I nearly couldn’t handle loading them in the car.  The only way I got through it was to remind myself how hard it would be to return the items to the store.  So the easiest thing for me to do was to put the groceries in the car.

Brad let me listen to The Greatest Showman on the way home, which helped distract me some.  But when we got home, I had a very hard time getting out of the van.  Eventually I got out and we got the groceries in and put away.  Then I collapsed on the couch, and I think I’ll stay here the rest of the day.

Tomorrow is Bagel Day, but I’m not sure I can handle going out tomorrow.  We shall see.

I hope everyone else is recovering from the convention OK!
