Driving to Cincy

We are now back from our whirlwind vacation!  I have a lot of blog entries to post, and lots of pics to publish.  So I am starting at the beginning (plus Brad is still editing pics from the end of our trip).

We rented a van for the trip, as our van is 12 years old, and we were worried about making it.  It was a really nice van, and we enjoyed driving it a lot.

We drove up on the 21st and 22nd.  The first day we got in tons of traffic jams.  Well, 2.  One was a semi that had caught fire and caused about a 45 min delay.  Then we had a slow down when traffic went to one lane for construction (even though they weren’t doing any construction……) that went on for close to an hour and a half.

I was able to drive for about 5.5 hrs, but then it got dark, and it just wasn’t safe for me to drive at night with my vision.  So Brad took over the last hour.  I did all the rest of the driving, though 🙂

We got photos of me driving 🙂  Of course!  And a few of us at a rest area.  I am wearing a black skirt with a turquoise peasant top.  We got pics of Hestia and me, and of an interesting mushroom Brad found when we were walking Hestia.  Brad also got some incredible shots of the scenery on the drive.

We also got pictures of some of the bridges in the area, and the Cincinnati skyline.

We took it easy the first day there, and went to my mom’s favorite restaurant, Aladdin’s, for lunch.  Then we hung out at home for the afternoon just chatting.  It was great!  I haven’t seen my parents in years, so it was a lot of fun to just be in the same room as them!

We went out for dinner to an Indian Place we’d never been to before.  The food was OK, but not as good as our usual place, Ambar India downtown.  We were worried about finding accessible parking there.

When we got back to the hotel, we were wiped out!  I think I fell asleep right away!
