Platforms 5: Hestia’s joie de vivre and silly me 7

On Wednesday we had week five of our platforms class.  It was a lot of fun!  I was still feeling a bit dizzy from my new med, but I managed not to fall over (which is a feat if you watch the video!).

This time Brad set up two cameras.  One like normal, and another at Hestia height to capture things from her point of view.  He got some really really good shots!  And he edited them all together to make an awesome video.

This week we worked on rear end work, which Hestia is starting to get down.  She is a little over enthusiastic about it at times, but we’re getting there!

Next we worked on going to the platform from a distance.  Hestia is not really that great at this yet.  I have to walk her right up to the platform but at least I don’t have to get on the platform!  Just right in front of it.

We are also working on the conventional hand signals for stand, down, and sit in case we decide to compete in obedience (seeming more and more likely if I work with Bit more!)  Hestia’s problem is that from a down, she wants to pop up early as I stand up, so the trick turned out to be not standing fully up before giving the next signal.

Finally we used the platforms to work on the stay command.  I had a lot of fun with that, skipping around Hestia, dancing, etc.  She did great!  I was so proud of her!

And the new homemade dog treats were a big hit!  She didn’t even get tired of them in the last 10 min of class which she usually does!

Here is a video Brad put together of week 5 at platforms class.  It shows everything I’ve described here– turns out Brad is a master video editor!
